Adventure Expo Draw

To kick off our active Spring and Summer seasons we attended the Vancouver Island Outdoor Adventure Expo in Victoria on April 1st-3rd. We had many lovely visitor enter our draw and we now have a winner. C. Greenway is the winner of a two night stay at Beach Acres Resort and a sunset kayak paddle with Adventures Sea Kayaking.  Congratulations again and thank you everyone for entering our draw!
 

Local Parks

At Beach Acres Resort, you can enjoy the blue of the ocean at your doorstep or revel in the green of the forest landscape of neighbouring Rathtrevor Provincial Park. But these are far from the only natural gems in the Oceanside region. Eight provincial parks and five regional district parks are all close by. The world famous Pacific Rim National Park is just a day-trip away. Explore from the mountains to the ocean to deep underground. A professional guide can introduce you to the wonders of Horne Lake Caverns one day and next day can find you humbled and inspired by the natural sights of Mount Arrowsmith, a United Nations designated “Biosphere Reserve”, one of only 13 such designations in Canada, and 1 of only 500 worldwide.

While there is always lots of talk about the region’s fabulous golf offerings for grown-ups, the most junior and senior members of the family can even the odds at one of five fun and fabulous mini-golf attractions.

Local Treasures

If enjoying the flora and fauna are on your vacation wish list, try a visit to a fish hatchery, or butterfly gardens or wildlife refuge. After you’ve said hello to the local wild things, how bout a visit to a farmyard or local cheese maker? And you don’t have to be a botanist or a gardener to enjoy either the carefully manicured gardens or wild old-growth rainforest of the area. Skiing

Did you know that Beach Acres is only 50 minutes from Mount Washington Alpine Resort? With an average of 10.5 metres of snowfall every year and 1700 acres of alpine terrain this mountain offers something for everyone, no matter your skill level. If alpine isn't your thing, you'll love 55 kms of cross country trails and 20 kms of snowshoeing trails.

Mount Washington offers classes for all ages and skill levels if you're just starting or wanting to improve your skills. With record snowfalls, a mild temperature and little to no lift lines, Mount Washington is one of Vancouver Island's jewels. Arts & Culture

While the pace of life might be slower here on beautiful Vancouver Island, the Arts and Culture scene of the region is bursting with activity. The magnificence of the landscape has inspired one of the densest gatherings of artists and artisan studios in the province.

And while weekends year-round feature the most activity in music and the performing arts, art galleries and self-guided studio tours can be enjoyed most anytime. Ask at the resort office for a Blue Brochure full of self-guided tours.

If history is a passion, visit the Qualicum Beach Museum complex to begin your exploration of First Nations history, or check out the Craig Heritage Museum in Parksville that tells tales from the lives of the area’s first European settlers and farmers.
